As a new father I've looked into parenting styles and found the non-aggressive communication style the most appealing to me. With peaceful parenting, the goal is to help your children learn by being empathetic towards their situation and calming them down and communicating with them.
You no longer raise them by spanking or punishing them and you will also stay away from the reward based strategy. It's similar to how you communicate with other adults and peers and it minimizes the power situation between parent and child.
This style of parenting will teach your children to be independent, work through problems voluntarily (rather than by force), and help them adjust quickly to other individuals.
