We all want nice things in life, and sometimes you have to spend a little more for higher quality products. Now that doesn’t mean you should go out and spend a fortune on everything you can get your hands on – it’s about making smart purchases on things that bring the most value to your life.
First, never buy things on sale. This brings in the emotional aspect of “getting a deal” and finding a good price, rather than looking at the value the item brings. This leads to clutter in your life, and you just end up accumulating things that aren’t of the highest value to you.
Secondly, look at the big ticket items in your life. Be aware of things like your housing costs, car payments, and things of this nature – if you can find ways to cut down on these costs, it opens up expendable funds to use on other items.
The longer you can delay making certain purchases – say a cell phone – the more money you’re actually saving in the long run, and add to your savings or expendable income.
Don’t be distracted by the things that add no value to your life – be smart and spend when it adds some value to your life.
