At the heart of every enterprising beardsman is the desire to explore, to seek, and to travel. Of course, traveling brings up an endless number of logistical questions and quandaries that you’re always solving on the fly. However, when you travel as much as Beardbrand founder Eric Bandholz does, 75,000 airline miles last year alone, it’s best to be prepared for anything.
According to Eric, the most essential item a traveler can get for themselves is a dopp bag. On top of that, make sure it’s waterproof to ensure that if anything breaks, the rest of your luggage is safe. Additionally, rather than transporting your entire medicine cabinet from home with you, do yourself a favor and simply buy two of everything you use so that you have one set for home and another separate set just for travel. It might seem like a lot, but the more you can prepare before take off, the better of you’ll be.
Lastly, it might seem silly to overstate, but double check that your caps and lids have been put on correctly. You’d be amazed at how often you don’t remember to check these, whether it’s because you’re in a rush or in too much of a haze to ensure you’re in the clear. Either way, future you will very much appreciate not having to clean out your dopp kit when your beard oil and tooth paste don’t come open mid-flight
