What To Do When You Hit A Yeard

—Urban Beardsman

What do you do once you hit the yeard mark? Well it’s no secret that beardsmen become attached to their beards, especially after a year together. But the urge to just keep on growing beyond the one year mark might not always be your best option.

Remember, you’ve just spent a year growing your beard without really touching it at all – you’ve got a variety of hairs that have come in, some denser and faster-growing than others. Now might be the time to consider a trim, and shape-up those faster growing hairs.

And yes, this means your beard is going to be shorter. It can be a tough pill to swallow, but it’s important to invest in a nice beard trim and find a solid grooming routine for yourself.

Lengths can come and go, you can always trim and re-grow your beard. Don’t stress too much about taking off some length, changing up your beard style from time to time is a good thing, and you can always grow it back out if you don’t like the shorter length.

One final note – once you get into a grooming routine and want to keep your beard looking neat and trimmed, look for a barber or salon that has beard trims on the menu. This is usually a good indicator that they know what they’re doing – if you don’t see it on their menu, they probably don’t trim beards often, so you may not want to roll the dice at that particular location.
