Michael Justino Michaud

Who I Am.

I am Michael Justino Michaud aka Mijumi (the 1st two letters from each part of my name). I am an artist, a traveler and a family man. I have taught English in Japan, lived & adventured across Costa Rica, and am now on the journey of fatherhood. I’m also a huge fan of reggae music, and try to live by the words of the great Bob Marley “Every little thing, is gonna be alright.”

What I Do.

I create. I make art as a release for the ideas in my head that need an escape. Art is something that I have been doing for as long as I can remember. My materials may have progressed over time from construction paper and crayons to canvases and paint and computer design, but the need to create has always been there. My love is for painting and drawing, but I also make time for graphic design as well.

Where I Live.

I currently live in Hartford County, Connecticut with my wife, 2 daughters, 2 dogs and 2 cats in an old carriage house. My wife and I are looking into building a tiny house on a trailer so our location may be changing very soon and very often.

Why I Beard.

I beard because I am an artist. Growing a beard is an art in itself. When I first start a beard it is like having a blank canvas on my face. A month in and I’ve added (grown) some guidelines to my masterpiece in production. Then three months (more layers) and six and… before I know it I have a living growing piece of art coming out of my face. It’s really just another thing that keeps the creativity flowing.
