Daniel Flores
Who I Am
Daniel James Flores, also known as Danny or “Beard” (which is a nickname I tell people because I sympathize with the inability to remember names). I am a 22 year old student currently attending San Jose State University in San Jose, California. I am studying to become a Graphic Designer with an emphasis in Typography, Package Design and Logo Design.
What I Do
Outside of studying and growing my beard, I love video games, playing sports, and going on adventures with friends. I truly believe that everyone needs some alone time in their life for self reflection and to form their own perspectives. I enjoy working out and trying to better my health each and every day. I used to be a whopping 325 lbs and have lost over 100 lbs in the past 3 years, and I thank all my friends and family for the support and encouragement during this enduring journey.
Where I Live
I am a man of many homes but I was born and raised in the small city of Malibu, California. My family now resides in Agoura Hills and during the months of August – May I live in San Jose. I will admit that Northern California suits me more than the Southern California lifestyle, and since it’s so much colder up there my beard works as a natural scarf!
Why I Beard
I have been able to grow a beard since I was the wee age of 12 so I’ve always had a new style weather it be a neck beard (don’t grow one…), a goatee, just a mustache, mutton chops and so on. When I moved up to Northern California I had a chance to reinvent myself since I didn’t know a soul there and it really began to symbolize my individualism, independence, and open-mindedness. It’s also unconventional for people to have beards in this day and age so it really helps me stand out.
I’ve been growing this particular beard for 7 months and am going for the yeard, but the real reason I beard is because I am not a big fan of my baby face.
