Utility Beard Wash
All-in-one wash, redefined. Utility Wash is a versatile cleanser for beard, hair, face, and body. These suds are formulated with no harsh sulfates — just coconut-derived cleansers that are gentle enough for your beard, hair, and face, but strong enough to wash where the sun doesn’t shine. Utility Wash pairs perfectly with Utility Beard Softener.
Gentle Beard Wash for Face, Hair & Body
Beardbrand Utility Wash is built differently.
For it to be an excellent beard wash, it had to be formulated with gentle surfactants that were safe to use on your face. We used high-quality, time-tested ingredients that rival those of niche skincare brands. From there, we fine-tuned it to be able to handle your scalp, body, and anywhere the sun doesn't shine.
So, if you have sensitive skin, it might just be time to reconsider all-in-one washes — or, at least this one.
How Do I Use Utility Beard Wash?
Beard Wash
Apply a nickel-sized amount to your beard and work it into the skin beneath your beard. Let it soak in. Rinse. Don’t repeat. Follow-up with matching Utility Beard Softener to condition and hydrate beard hair.
Hair Shampoo
Apply a nickel-sized amount to your hair and gently massage it into your scalp. Let it soak in to allow the gentle surfactants to dislodge dirt and debris from your hair. Rinse. Don’t repeat. Follow-up with matching Utility Beard Softener.
Face / Body Wash
Apply Utility Beard Wash to a washcloth, sponge, loofah, or your hands (you animal!) and scrub yourself clean.

Utility Beard Wash FAQs
How often should I wash my beard and hair?
When it comes to washing your beard and hair, less is more. We generally recommend two to three times per week, but other factors might change the wash frequency depending on your skin type and where you live. Men with oily skin or who live in humid, wet climates can wash more frequently. Men with dryer skin and who live in dry, arid climates should wash less often. Thick curly hair is typically dryer and would benefit from less washing. Straight or patchy beards can handle more frequent washing. If you work a job where you’re exposed to dirt — well, do what ya gotta do to keep it clean. Fortunately, Beardbrand Utility Wash is gentle enough for daily use.
Why doesn't Utility Beard Wash lather as much as other shampoos?
Contrary to what many people think, a foamy lather doesn’t contribute to its cleaning or conditioning power. But somewhere along the way, it got ingrained in our heads that a lot of foam was the only way to ensure your hair was being cleaned (yeah, big advertising probably had something to do with this). But what if we told you that lots of soapy suds don’t necessarily equate to cleaner, healthier hair?
Let’s break it down...
The surfactants in your shampoo or beard wash can’t simultaneously dislodge dirt and form foamy bubbles. So, the dirtier your hair is, the less foam your shampoo or beard wash will produce. But people like their foamy suds, so some companies add a bunch of foam-boosting ingredients to their shampoos and beard washes. This is effectively just filler that doesn’t contribute much to your hair's overall cleanliness.
How can a multi-use product be as good as a single-use?
This is a great question. There are some fundamental differences between beard hair and head hair. But over the years, we have learned that certain gentle multi-use product formulas, when used properly, can be just as effective as single-use products for cleansing head hair, beard hair, and skin.
It’s all broken down in greater detail on our blog: The Science Behind Beardbrand Utility Wash.
